Fitted Wardrobes & Storage Design

Fitted wardrobes make the most of a room's height and width, so everything has a place and the room stays calm. The right design depends on what you store, how the doors open and the space you have.

How we help

Fitted wardrobes and storage walls are designed around your belongings and the room's proportions, so everything has a place.

The challenge

Off-the-shelf storage rarely fits the room, wastes space and adds visual clutter.

What this can include

  • Storage planning around your belongings
  • Door, internal fitting and finish design
  • Coordination with the surrounding room scheme

Planning notes: wardrobes & storage

  1. Choose between hinged and sliding doors

Hinged doors give full access but need clearance to swing open. Sliding doors suit tight rooms but show only part of the interior at a time.

  2. Plan hanging space, shelves and drawers

Long hanging, short hanging, shelves and drawers all need different heights. Divide the space around your own clothes and belongings.

  3. Use the full height

Top boxes above the doors store things you use rarely and make the wardrobe look built in rather than added.

  4. Decide the handles and finish early

Long bar handles, finger pulls and plain flat doors each give a different look. Choose the finish with the rest of the room in mind.

Common questions

  • How do I choose between hinged and sliding doors?

It depends on the clearance in front of the wardrobe and how you want to reach your things. We will go through both options with you using your room's measurements.

  • Can a wardrobe be made to fit an awkward space?

Fitted storage is planned to the room, so alcoves and unusual layouts are part of the design. Send photos and rough measurements and we will tell you what is possible.

  • What should I send with my enquiry?

Photos of the wall or space, the rough width and height, and a note about what you want to store. Inspiration images are welcome.
